Safari Cup

Safari Cup is a unique coffee shop in Birmingham. There are a couple of things that set them apart from the rest that I will just list a few here and send you on to their website for more info.

#1 - In case you couldn't tell by the name the coffees are from Africa. The owners, Dave and Sharon McLaughlin are from Africa, Zimbabwe to be exact. They offer fantastic coffees from Ethiopia, Uganda, Kenya, and Zimbabwe.

#2 - They have a wonderful selection of tea. There is loose leaf tea that includes such flavors as jasmine green tea and Kemun hao ya. They also have a variety of Numi teas and they make bubble tea!

#3 - Speaking of tea, Safari Cup offers the opportunity to experience High Tea! This is a unique thing in Birmingham. Reservations for this must be made 24 hours in advance and can be for any number of people. Times for High Tea are Wednesday and Thursday 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. If you request a Safari Cup High Tea it will include an assortment of sweet and savory pastries as well as a selection of loose leaf teas to complement the meal. At the end of the meal a glass of sparkling wine is served.

#4 - Beautiful arts, crafts, and photography from Africa or featuring African themes.

#5 - A large, upstairs lounge that can accommodate groups whether for meetings or fun. It includes a 96" overhead projector and surround sound.

As for their hours, I really couldn't figure out what they were. On the door they run the range from 7:00 am to midnight but with a lot of exceptions so you might want to call first!
